Check 1: the public register
The LUCID register publishes every registered producer: company name, address, registration number, registered brands and packaging scope. Anyone can search it. If a number does not resolve - or resolves to a different company - the verification ends there.
Check 2 and 3: names and brands
Two name fields matter:
- The registered company must be the entity you are buying from.
- The registered brands must cover the products you are buying. A registration under one brand does not cover another brand's packaging.

The red flags
- A number that does not resolve. An unverifiable DE number is not a registration.
- Company mismatch. The registered company is not your supplier.
- Brand mismatch. The registration covers a different brand than the products you are buying.
- Scope mismatch. Your packaging type is not in the registered scope.
- Screenshots instead of the notice. The official notice (or the live register) is the evidence; a screenshot can be edited.
- "We are registered, so you are covered." Registration follows the placement of packaging; a supplier's registration does not transfer to the buyer's sales (Article I4).
