Three letters decide whether a Travel Sentry license is real: LGM. But they're only one of four fields that matter — and reading all four is what separates a quick look from a real check.

We've watched buyers stare at licenses like they're reading tea leaves. It's simpler than that. A Travel Sentry license has four fields, each answering a different question: the licensed company, the registration number, the validity period, and the verification channel.

Field 2: The LGM Number

LGM stands for Licensed Goods Manufacturer — the identifier Travel Sentry assigns to licensed manufacturers. It is the number buyers quote when verifying a factory's standing in the program. Like the DE number in German packaging registration, the LGM number is meaningless until it resolves to the right company.

Field 3: Validity

Travel Sentry licenses are annual. CLK's 2026 license runs to December 31, 2026 — which means:

It is current for products made and sold during 2026.
It must be renewed for 2027 programs.
A license from a previous year is evidence of past standing, not current approval.

The annual cycle is the reason buyers should check the year on the document, not just the LGM number.

Field 4: Verification

The license itself prints the verification route: contact industry@travelsentry.org to confirm authenticity. This is the same pattern as the QR verification on CCC certificates — the document tells you how to check it. A license that cannot be verified through the stated channel is not a license.
