Buyers ask that question a lot, usually mid-tour while we're standing at the cutting table with a roll of lining fabric. The honest answer is a document, not a slogan. GRS stands for the Global Recycled Standard — Textile Exchange's chain-of-custody standard for recycled content. It verifies recycled content from input to finished product, and it layers social, environmental and chemical requirements on top. When a retailer hears "recycled polyester" or "recycled lining," GRS is the standard most of them reach for. For luggage, it's the document that makes a recycled-content claim verifiable instead of aspirational.

Who Holds the Certificate

The certificate belongs to the textile supplier — not to CLK. We source lining fabric from the GRS-certified supplier and integrate it into luggage. The chain works like this:

The fabric mill holds a GRS scope certificate for its products and processes.
Each shipment of certified fabric is covered by a transaction certificate (TC).
CLK uses the certified material in production.
The claim "recycled lining" is only as strong as the current SC + TC chain.

That division is standard in textiles. Being precise about it is what keeps the claim honest.

The Expiry That Matters

This certificate's validity ended on January 11, 2025. On the date this article is published, it is a historical document — it proves the supplier held GRS scope certification up to that date, and it does not prove current certification.

Any recycled-content claim made today must be supported by the supplier's current scope certificate plus transaction certificates covering the actual shipment. We publish this plainly because a claim built on an expired document fails exactly when it is checked.

What This Certificate Does NOT Mean

It does not prove delivered goods are GRS certified — the certificate itself says so; transaction certificates do that.
It is not a claim about the whole suitcase — recycled lining is one component.
It does not cover CLK's production — it covers the supplier's scope.
It is time-limited — and the limit here has passed; current claims need current documents.
