Vacuum Compression Storage

Vacuum compression storage inside a case

A vacuum compression system pulls the air out of packed clothing and holds it compressed, so a given case carries more without changing its external dimensions. It is the packing-side answer to the same problem that expansion zips solve from the structure side.

Two builds, two trade-offs

Either the pump is built into the case, or the system ships as separate bags with a pump packed alongside. The built-in version needs its own housing in the shell and adds a serviceable part to the case; the separate version keeps the case simpler and is easier to replace. Where a powered pump is involved, the same lithium battery rules as any other powered feature apply.
