Foldable luggage: what the format is for
A foldable case collapses flat when it is empty and stands up when it is packed. The point is volume, not weight: a collapsed case takes a fraction of the space of a rigid one, which cuts warehouse footprint and container freight on both the inbound and the outbound leg.
What has to hold up
The hinge line and the fold panels take the stress, so the panel thickness and the hinge construction decide how many folds the case survives. Buyers who sell into markets with high return rates usually ask for a fold-cycle test before tooling is committed.
Building a foldable range with CLK
