Comparing luggage factories is harder than it looks. Two quotes for the "same" suitcase often differ because the factories assumed different shells, different MOQ, different packaging, and different payment terms. What the table actually tells you
The MOQ column is the most revealing — and the emptiest. Only three of the five manufacturers publish a number at all. Two publish nothing, which usually means MOQ is negotiable per project and they don't want a number quoted back at them. If a supplier will not put an MOQ in writing before you share your design, treat that as an open question, not a red flag.
Experience and capacity are different claims. A factory can be 30 years old and still small; a newer factory can run more lines. Years measure survival, not fit for your product.
Material lists are not equivalent. "PC" appears in four rows, but shell material is only one variable. Thickness, blend ratio, and whether the shell is vacuum-formed or injection-moulded change the product more than the material name does.
Sampling time is where quotes quietly diverge. A 5-day sample usually means an existing mould. A 20-30 day sample usually means new tooling or a heavily modified shell. Both are "sampling" — they are not the same purchase.
The four things to compare beyond MOQ
- Mold ownership. Who pays for tooling, who owns it, and can you move it? If the contract is silent, ownership defaults to the factory. See OEM vs ODM luggage for how ownership changes the commercial model.
- How many sample rounds are included. One factory includes two adjustment rounds; another charges per round. Over a new design, that difference can exceed the tooling cost.
