139th Canton Fair: Luggage Industry Steals the Show with Innovation and Culture

Four days into the third phase of the 139th Canton Fair, our booth ran out of chairs. Not because we'd planned a lounge — because buyers kept sitting down to talk.

The fair ran in Guangzhou from April 15 to May 5, 2026, and the luggage and bags exhibition zone, during the third phase from May 1 to 5, turned out to be one of the busiest corners of the whole event. Global buyers crowded the aisles, and the luggage section specifically drew them in by the hundreds at a time.

    Innovation Took Center Stage

Luggage manufacturers showed up with a wide array of new products, and the through-line was clear: technology, culture, and sustainability, all mixed into one industry. Some companies rolled out smart suitcases that don't just carry clothes — they make the trip itself easier, with practical functions layered on top of basic packing duties. Others built products from eco-friendly materials, lining up with the global environmental protection trend that retail buyers keep asking about.

You could feel the shift on the floor. A decade ago, this aisle was about who had the cheapest hard shell. Now it's about who has the cleverest one.

    Cultural Integration Captivated the Buyers

The "cultural +" concept was especially prominent in the luggage area. Brands like Gu Xiou brought the Chaoshan inlay porcelain pattern into leather goods, pulling the aesthetic idea of "fragment reconstruction" straight out of intangible cultural heritage and putting it on bags. Overseas buyers lauded the designs, and many of those products racked up substantial orders even in the pre-sale phase.

We watched buyers photograph those pieces for their teams back home. Nobody was photographing a plain black case.

Jiangxi Chengleke Leather Co., Ltd. Made Its Mark

We were there ourselves. Jiangxi Chengleke Leather Co., Ltd. — with our independent website www.clkluggage.com — participated in this Canton Fair, bringing a series of high-quality luggage products to the exhibition. Drawing on our production experience and the latest market trends, our lineup spanned travel suitcases, business backpacks, and fashionable handbags.

Our booth attracted a steady stream of buyers, and the on-site negotiations were bustling from the first morning. By closing day, we'd reached many intent-to-order agreements. That's the part the press releases don't capture: the sheer volume of hands-on examination, the zipper pulls, the wheel rolls across the carpet, the quiet note-taking before someone nods and asks for a quote.

    Global Demand and Rising Recognition

The overall numbers back up what we saw at the booth. It's reported that overseas buyers at the 139th Canton Fair hit 314,000 — a new high. The popularity of the luggage and bags exhibition area reflects robust global demand for luggage products and growing acclaim for "Made in China" luggage.

Chinese luggage enterprises have moved from "processing with supplied materials" to "original leadership," and from "imitating" to "setting the trend." With continuous improvements in R&D and design capability, Chinese luggage is set to claim an even bigger position in the global market. Sitting in the middle of it, we'd say that future already started in Guangzhou this spring.
